Abstract:
This test report is part of a project (No. 45629-1) which addresses fire safety of road vehicles with lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). As part of potential safety measures evaluated in the project, fixed fire suppression systems have been in focus. Fire suppression systems are common in heavy vehicles and are widely considered to be an effective way to mitigate fires. In conventionally powered vehicles, they normally protect engine compartments and spaces with auxiliary heaters. It is therefore of importance to investigate whether fixed fire suppression systems can act as a control measure for LIBs.
