Legislation
The work of DEMA is based on the Danish Emergency Management Act, which was last revised June 10 2009. DEMA is responsible for implementing the regulations and the operational and technical directives established under the Emergency Management Act and previous legislation.
DEMA is responsible for drawing up directives on a wide range of areas such as:
- Technical directives on fire and explosion hazards in enterprises and storage facilities
- Operational directives for community centres, hotels, schools, etc.
DEMA also administers rules on transport of dangerous goods by road and performs vulnerability assessments, national coordination and contingency planning.
